Public Data: Arrest Logs

The data cited on this website—the MBPD Daily Booking Logs from 2015–2020—was obtained through a California Public Records Act request. It falls under item (7) from our CPRA request (as detailed on the Requested Public Data page):  data on the racial, ethnic, and gender breakdown of arrests conducted by the MBPD. Analyses and findings from this raw data can be found under the Analyses tab.

The MBPD Daily Booking Logs will be provided upon request—please email raceandpolicingmb@gmail.com. The data has not been published here in recognition of potential misuse by bots or ill-intentioned persons, though in order to provide maximal public transparency, it will happily be provided upon request.

If you do request the data, please keep in mind when reviewing it that these are records of arrests made in Manhattan Beach, not convictions or sentences; daily booking logs track people suspected of committing crimes, not people convicted of committing crimes. Names have been redacted to ensure privacy in recognition of the judicial system's presumption of innocence, though the full data is public and can be obtained through a CPRA request.
