Public Data

Because "getting the facts" about racial and ethnic disparities in policing typically requires the filing of a California Public Records Act (CPRA) request—a long and bureaucratic process—we're sharing our findings from the data we've received from the city here, and we'll share the raw data, too, if  you email us at raceandpolicingmb@gmail.com. You have a right to know how your police department is behaving. We're making it easy.

We don't yet have access to all of the records we've requested from the MBPD, so more data will be added as it is received. Currently, you can:

Learn more about the data we've requested and when we expect to receive it on our Requested Public Data page.

Learn about racial disparities in arrests conducted by the MBPD from 2015–2020 on our Analyses page.

Learn how to contact us and request our raw data on arrests conducted by the MBPD from 2015–2020 on our Arrest Records page.

Learn how to file your own CPRA request and obtain even more data from the city on our Action Toolkit page.
